Burnout

After burning himself out so badly that he ended up in hospital, James made it his mission to find a better way to manage projects. Not through more effort, more meetings or more complicated processes, but through clearer thinking, better prioritisation, stronger stakeholder conversations and a more human way of leading teams.

That experience shaped everything James now teaches. His work helps people manage projects with impact rather than effort, so they can deliver better results without burning themselves or their teams out in the process.

Since then, James has built a career helping people and organisations improve how work gets delivered. He has over 20 years’ experience managing projects at every level, from hands-on delivery to senior leadership. He has worked as Head of Project Management Competency at Bank of Ireland, Chief Information Officer at Cpl, and has trained thousands of people in Ireland and internationally.

James is the author of Leading Impactful Teams, winner of PMI Ireland Project Professional of the Year 2023, a guest lecturer, speaker, coach and mentor to project managers around the world.
